Jalandhar, July 10 (ANI): Punjab Police has arrested three persons for smuggling drugs in Jalandhar city.
Eight kilograms of heroin have been seized from them.
The three persons arrested on Saturday were identified as Bhag Singh, Jaskaran Singh and Gurwant Singh.
The police also impounded the car they had used to transport the narcotics.
Following a tip-off, the counter intelligence branch of Jalandhar police stopped the car at a checkpoint in Amanatpur village near Jalandhar and seized the heroin.
"Counter intelligence of Jalandhar (Police force) got information about these men who are smugglers of heroin. They supply heroin to various places. With this information, we made a special plan to trap them. We got eight kilograms of heroin from them," said Upinderjit Singh Ghumman, Assistant Inspector General, Counter Intelligence, Punjab.
Authorities said the investigation is still on.
"The interrogation is going on. We may get information about from where they are getting heroin and also about the places they are supplying it to," added Ghumman. (ANI)
