Bangalore, July 9(ANI): Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily today called for the immediate passing of the Land Acquisition Bill by the next parliament session.
Moily said that the interests of farmers would be safeguarded once the Bill is endorsed by the parliament.
"We will take everybody together that is why it was delayed. Now, I don't think we can afford to delay more because the land conflicts are more. Because after all even if one inch of possession of a land by any farmer, he feels that he owns it, he feels when it is acquired it he is deprived of it. That kind of a feeling, of alienation should disappear from the farmers mind," Moily said.
The Law and Justice Minister emphasized that the Bill would focus on farmers' welfare and that it could not be compromised in the name of development. (ANI)
