Panchkula (Haryana) July 1 (ANI): A special National Investigating Agency (NIA) court extended the judicial custody of Samjhauta train blast accused Swami Aseemanand and declared Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalasangra proclaimed offenders (POs) on Friday.
Another accused Lokesh Sharma was also produced before NIA special judge Subhash Mehla.
The NIA court had on June 20 filed a chargesheet against Aseemanand and four others.
Sharma is already under arrest, while Dange and Kalasangra are absconding. Sunil Joshi, the fourth accused, is dead.
The court has fixed July 18 as the next date of hearing.
In the chargesheet, Aseemanand has been described as the mastermind of the terror attack.
Aseemanand has claimed that he had no role in the Samjhauta Express bombing in which the victims were mainly Pakistanis. He has also accused the NIA of torturing him mentally and physically to extract a statement from him.
Aseemanand, a member of Abhinav Bharat, a right-wing Hindu outfit, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on November 19, 2010 in Haridwar for his alleged role in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast in Hyderabad in which 14 people were killed.
He was subsequently questioned about his role in the Samjhauta Express blast of February 18, 2007 that took place in Diwana village near Panipat.
Two coaches of the Samjhauta Express, a peace train between India and Pakistan, were destroyed in the blast.
The train was going from Delhi to Attari, the last station on the Indian side. (ANI)
