Washington, June 29 (ANI): The habit of 'people-pleasing' can spoil relationships, vouches actress Anne Hathaway, who split with her boyfriend because of the same reason.
'The Princess Diaries' star finally opened up about the failure of her last relationship, insisting her urge to please her partner led to their break-up.
"There's something very addictive about people pleasing. It's a thought pattern and a habit that feels really, really good until it becomes desperate. It's one of the reasons that relationship ended. I wasn't able to grow or foster anything. I think a lot of girls have that story," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
Hathaway, 28, admitted that she has since learned to make her own needs a priority.
"It's a big moment when you step away from that and say, 'I'm going to be exactly who I am. And I'm going to be brave enough to only be with someone who wants me the way I am," she added.
'The Devil Wears' Prada star was speaking to Harper's Bazaar magazine, but refused to name her former boyfriend in question. (ANI)
