New Delhi, Jun 28 (ANI); Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Tuesday criticized the Mayawati Government over recent crime cases in the state, and demanded immediate dismissal of the state government.
While interacting with reporters in New Delhi, Bahuguna Joshi said there is no law and order in the state under the governance of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
She has also given a memorandum against the state government to Governor B L Joshi, seeking his intervention for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the federal police probe into various cases of rape and murders in the region.
"At present, the situation is that neither their (Uttar Pradesh government) legislature is in their control, nor their lawmakers, not even their officials, police or even sector in-charge is under their control. So the system of the state is completely ruined.
"Considering all this, we have given a memorandum to the state governor that either, this government should release orders for CBI probe in all the cases being demanded by us including Sitapur Murder case (rape and murder case of a 12-year-old Saleha), Kiri Murder case and Dr. Sachan murder case, if they don't do so, then it proves that somewhere down the line, the state government is also being involved in these crimes, so this government should be dismissed," she said.
Recently, the state of Uttar Pradesh was placed on high alert after eight rape cases were reported within a span of 48 hours.
Bahuguna Joshi further slammed Mayawati on charges of corruption.
"The Uttar Pradesh state is in the hands of Chief Minister (Mayawati) whose mentality is corrupt and who considers the public as cattle, who thinks that on the basis of her community nobody could dismiss her from her present position," she said.
The Mayawati-led state government has been in the eye of a storm with the rise in the number of rape and murder cases in the state. Several cases of rape have been reported in the state in the past nine days. (ANI)
