Pune, June 26(ANI): Deputy Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday urged his party members to agitate against steep hike in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (cooking gas), diesel and kerosene prices.
Pawar was addressing party workers near Pune, where he said they should connect with the masses and understand their problems.
"Since the fuel price has increased, the womenfolk have reacted to this hike. The price of cylinders has been increased by Rs. 50. I urge my party members as well as womenfolk of Maharashtra to launch an agitation immediately," Pawar said.
Pawar added that even though the NCP is part of the Central government, the party is against this hike.
He said that he wants an instantaneous reaction to this hike.
According to him, women must launch an agitation against the hike in cooking gas.
"You must be wondering that we ourselves are a part of the federal government, but still we are protesting against the fuel price hike. The price of fuel has been increased, but the Congress doesn't seem to be concerned about the masses," Pawar said.
The Centre on Friday hiked the price of diesel by three rupees a litre, kerosene by two rupees a litre and LPG by 50 rupees a cylinder. (ANI)
