Gaya (Bihar), June 17 (ANI): Maoists set fire to two trucks as they were plying on National Highway-2 in Bihar's Gaya District early on Friday morning.
The National Highway-2 joins Bihar and Jharkhand with New Delhi.
According to the police, the ultras, who were young boys carried out the attack as part of a shutdown call given by them to protest the arrest of Jagdish Yadav alias Jagdish Master, the politburo member of the CPI (Maoist).
"In protest over the arrest of their leader (Jagdish Yadav) by the police, there was shutdown for the past 24 hours. As part of that, they have set fire to two trucks," said Janardhan Singh, Station House Officer.
In a major crackdown on violent insurgency, CPI (Maoist) leader and naxalites' think-tank, Jagdish Yadav alias Jagdish Master was arrested during a joint operation conducted by the police and the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on June 13.
Narrating the incident, eyewitnesses said most of the attackers were youths.
"The attackers were young boys of about 15-16 years. They are of only that age and not more than that," said Jagender Singh, a truck driver.
Jagdish Master, who is a resident of Gamaharia village under Kasma police station in Aurangabad district and carried a cash award of Rs. 2 lakh on his head, was allegedly looking after the affairs of the organisation from the forest areas of Dumaria-Imamganj. (ANI)
