New Delhi, June 14 (ANI): Union Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid will soon visit Bangladesh on the invitation of his Bangladeshi counterpart Ramesh Chandra Sen during which he is expected to discuss issues related to water resources.
This invitation to Khurshid was extended when the Water Resources Secretary of Bangladesh Shaikh Md. Wahid-uz-Zaman called on him here recently. The visit will take place at a mutually convenient date.
The Water Resources Secretary of Bangladesh was in New Delhi in connection with the Water Resources Secretary Level meeting between India and Bangladesh in which Dhruv Vijai Singh led the Indian delegation.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of great warmth, understanding and cordiality.
The two sides held discussions on issues related to sharing of waters of the Teesta, Feni and other rivers viz. Manu, Muhuri, Khowai, Gumti, Dharla amd Dudhkumar; dredging of river Ichamati; and bank protection works along common rivers. The two delegations also assessed developments since their last meeting held in January 2011. (ANI)
