Agra, June 7 (ANI): Stepping up his offensive against the Central government, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has described the action against yoga guru Baba Ramdev as an act of "unstable minds".
Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, Yadav said: "How else can I describe the injustice and highhandedness meted out to a saint. He was only holding a peaceful demonstration and that is within anybody's rights in a democracy."
He also attacked the UPA government for its failure to curb price rise.
"What kind of government is this which openly keeps admitting time and again that they cannot do anything about the rising prices? If they can't handle it, they can come to us. We will tell them how to handle this," he said.
Yadav further criticised the state chief Minister Mayawati for forcibly acquiring farmers' land and said that the agitation by the farmers was the result of her inefficiency to tackle such issues.
"Samajwadi Party will not tolerate any injustice done to farmers. Wherever the government has acquired land, we have gone and fought for it. You must have seen many people have been arrested and wherever such incidents have taken place, activists of Samajwadi Party have protested. We will protect the farmers' land even if we have to fight," he said.
Discussing the agenda of the party for the upcoming Assembly elections, he said his party's foremost concern is the worsening condition of the country.
"The challenge before us is how to save the country. Both economic and international conditions are very bad today. If we look at the economy, then you can gauge the condition, it is worse. Citizens want to convey their problem to the authorities but there is no one to listen to him. Inflation is also touching sky high," he added. (ANI)
