Bijapur, June 6 (ANI): A Maoist ultra was killed in a fierce encounter with the police in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur District on Sunday.
Acting on a tip off, a team of around 80 security officials including state police in coordination with Special Police Officers launched a search operation.
Sensing trouble, the Maoists opened firing on the police officials.
Satish Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) said the deceased Maoist was yet to be identified but it is certain that he was the deputy commander of the unit operating here.
Singh also said they seized a 303 rifle and some daily use stuffs after the encounter was over.
"During search operation we seized a body of a Maoist wearing uniform, one 303 weapon, daily use stuffs and utensils which they would have been using to cook food," he added. (ANI)
