Guwahati, June 6 (ANI): Newly elected Assam Assembly members led by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi formally took oath on Monday.
Pro-tem Speaker Dr. Bhumidhar Barman administered the oath to all 126 MLAs in the Assembly.
The leader of the House Tarun Gogoi was the first to take oath followed by other ministers and Legislators.
Among those who took oath today included 78 MLAs from Congress, 18 from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), 12 Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF), 10 Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), five from Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP), one Trinamool Congress and two independents.
The Assembly later elected Pranab Gogoi, a former Minister as the new Speaker of the Assembly unopposed. (ANI)
