New Delhi, May 28 (ANI): A day after Sushma Swaraj blamed fellow party leader Arun Jaitley for allotting ministerial berths to the Reddy brothers in Karnataka cabinet, Congress Party charging the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging in corruption and nepotism, today said the party will never come back to power.
"In the last elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) boasted of a leader who was in the contention as a Prime Ministerial candidate since 2004. And by the time the year 2014 approaches, the waiting list is bound to increase further. Because the Bharatiya Janata Party is unable to understand the fact that they will never come in power," said Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari.
"The difference between the UPA (Congress-led United Progressive Alliance) and the opposition is while we are committed to root out the menace of black money, the opposition is committed to just transforming it into yet another political football," he added.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad commenting on the controversy said: "I would say only one thing, Go through the interview properly, where they have also mentioned that we share a good relationship with Arun. There is agreement on 95 to 99 percent instances."
"Does everyone agree to you in your channel? This is a part and parcel of democracy. But, there is agreement only till 95 to 99 percent. This is the part of the same interview," he added.
In an interview to Outlook magazine, Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj had said: "I have no hand in the political making of Bellary brothers...I had nothing to do with making them ministers or building up their stature as political leaders...When the Bellary brothers were made ministers, Jaitleyji (Arun Jaitley) was the prabhari (in charge) and Yeddyurappa was CM. I was opposed to their appointment as ministers but they (Jaitley, Yeddyurappa, Ananth Kumar) had some political compulsions."
Swaraj's reported remarks are being seen by some as blaming BJP leader Arun Jaitley for the inclusion of the 'tainted' Reddy brothers, Janardhana and Karunakara, whose names had figured in a mining scandal. (ANI)
