Gumla (Jharkhand), May 17 (ANI): In a horrendous act, around 50 Maoists suspected to be cadres of People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) killed four brothers of the same family in Jharkahnd's Gumla District.
According to villagers, armed members of the PLFI, swooped on Dekia Kedli village and knocked on the doors of the Barhi family.
Chandan Kumar Sinha, Sub-Divisional Police Officer said that the men were killed because the family had a property dispute.
"The people who have been killed belong to the same family. The Maoists first dragged them out from their house, killed them by bullets and then slit their throat also. The motive of the killing is that these four men had a land dispute with their family members who were related to Maoists. The family members called the Maoists to kill these four brothers," said Chandan Kumar Sinha, SDPO, Gumla.
Vinita Devi, a family member of the slain brothers said that the Maoists dragged them to the forest and killed them.
"One of the brothers got up in the night to drink water. As soon as he opened the door the Maoists entered the house breaking the wall of the house. The Maoists tied the brothers and took them away to the forest and killed them," said Devi.
The deceased were identified as Jeetu Barhi, Basant Barhi, Mahesh Barhi and Sheet Barhi. (ANI)
