Leh, Mar 14 (ANI): A primary school at Choglamsar in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir has earned kudos from the authorities as well as parents for the unique teaching methods.
The Government Primary School at Choglamsar has been teaching young children the courses in the syllabus through wall paintings.
Paintings about the various flora and fauna of the state have been painted on the walls of the school for the children to learn from. Likewise elementary numerical and tables are also painted on the walls.
Sonam Lundup, Headmaster of the school, said that this is a very effective method by which children can learn all the basics.
"As you can see the work we have done on the wall will last for the next 15 to 20 years. The senior level children will teach the junior level children. By the time these children reach the fifth standard, they will have all the knowledge about this wall. This is the play way method. In our training schools, we are told to teach the children through play way method. Whatever I have received in my training, I have displayed them on this wall," said Lundup.
These unique efforts have earned praise from all quarters.
"What you see behind me is the syllabus which has been informally taught to the children by this method. And children teach them to each other in a very playful way. So these things should be encouraged a lot in today's date," said Shakil ur Rehman, Chairman of Choglamsar village Education Committee.
The school has seen a rise in the number of students ever since this teaching method was tried out. (ANI)
