London, May 6 (ANI): In a bid to save a "special" wildlife-filled area of Snowdonia, actress Catherine Zeta Jones has backed a '1-million-pounds campaign.

The campaign has managed to raise more than 500,000 pounds in donations to buy the farm in the Trust's biggest countryside appeal in more than 10 years ago.

There are fears that if the 1m pounds target is not reached, the estate, including the Llyn Dinas lake, could fall into commercial hands.

The Welsh beauty joined the National Trust in a bid to buy Llyndy Isaf, a 614-acre hill farm and lake in the Nant Gwynant valley.

The farm, which has not been intensively farmed for decades, is a haven for wildlife.

The hill of Dinas Emrys, which overlooks the Llyn Dinas lake, is where the mythological red dragon defeated a white dragon in battle and consequently became the national emblem of Wales.

Zeta Jones described the beauty and landscape of Snowdonia as "truly unique".We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to protect Llyndy Isaf in this stunning part of Wales for future generations," the Sky News quoted her as saying.

"If we don't act now the threat of commercial development could spoil the tranquility of this special part of Snowdonia," the star added. (ANI)
