Karachi/Islamabad, May 5(ANI): Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to rejoin the Pakistan Cabinet saying the move is in the larger national interest.
The decision came after assurances from Pakistan President Asif Zardari and Prime Minster Yousuf Raza Gilani that the government would strive to curb extremism in Karachi.MQM's Coordination Committee Deputy Convenor Farooq Sattar has acknowledged Interior Minster Rehman Malik's role in PPP-MQM reconciliation.
MQM is yet to finalise the names for cabinet portfolios. A senior MQM leader told The Nation, "Keeping in view all pros and cons, senior MQM leaders are deliberating to choose appropriate members for the offered cabinet seats, but they have still not finalised the names".
Sources revealed that portfolios of Port and Shipping and Information Technology are most likely to be awarded to Dr Farooq Sattar and Babar Ghori. The PPP has offered MQM two federal ministries and one slot of state minister but MQM has postponed its decision.(ANI)
