New Delhi, May 3 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will undertake a two-day visit of Bangladesh to participate in the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
He will arrive in Bangladesh capital Dhaka on May 5.
During his visit, Ansari and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will jointly inaugurate the year-long celebrations on May 6.
India will host a similar ceremony on May 7, which will be attended by Bangladesh Planning Minister A K Khandker, who was a sector commander during the Liberation War of 1971.
When Sheikh Hasina visited New Delhi in January 2010, India and Bangladesh agreed to jointly observe the 150th birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate-poet, who penned the national anthem of both countries.
Dhaka and New Delhi will hold a series of events to celebrate the event, including performances by eminent theatre groups, Rabindra Sangeet maestros and Rabindra Nritya exponents, besides hosting an exhibition of Tagore's original paintings and a screening of films.
A number of seminars, conferences and scholar retreats will also be held in May 2011 and May 2012.
India and Bangladesh plan to launch a tourism circuit called 'Rabi Tirtha', which would include Jorasanko, Shantiniketan, Shilaidaha, Kushtia, Shahzadpur and other places linked to Tagore both in Bangladesh and India. (ANI)
