Aligarh, Apr 30 (ANI): The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been shut down indefinitely and the security stepped up after two students group clashed with each other inside the campus last evening.
According to reports, around 11 students got injured in the incident when one of the students groups belonging to Azamgarh and the other having students predominantly from Bihar clashed with each other here last evening. They also opened fire inside the campus.
Meanwhile, the authorities have swung into action and asked the students involved in the brawl to vacate the premises within 48 hours.
The incident reportedly took place after the students from Azamgarh had levelled allegations against the Deputy Controller of the university for irregularities in admission procedure and sought his removal. The other group, however, backed the Deputy Controller.
"Two groups had some fight, there was firing too, many students were injured and they are in hospital. Their treatment is on. Around 11 to 12 students have been injured," said Aligarh District Magistrate Anil Kumar.
No arrests have, however, been made so far with respect to the untoward incident. (ANI)
