Kochi, Apr 27 (ANI): Mahela Jayawardene, captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK), has said that he is ready to face his good friend Kumar Sangakkara led Deccan Chargers (DC) ahead of the league match of Indian Premier League (IPL) in India's southern Kerala state.
The two Sri Lankan batsmen would be playing against each other for two different franchises on Wednesday (April 27) in Kochi.
Speaking at a news conference after a strenuous practice session Jayawardene jokingly said he would face Sangakkara as his opponent tomorrow.
"He'll be my enemy tomorrow, No, I think it's good. But, we are not just playing against Kumar (Sri Lankan team mate and Deccan Chargers captain), we are playing against another franchise, another team, there are other players, so Yeah I mean, I catched up with him last night, I had a good chat and Yeah I mean looking forward to it. But, like I said it's not just Kumar, there are other people," he said.
Playing on the home ground, KTK would be hoping to win the game.
The team is also hoping to gain momentum with the probability of Brendon McCullum joining the team back after a shoulder injury.
McCullum would undergo a fitness test on Wednesday morning.
KTK are on an advantage as opposed to the DC who have just two wins out of the six matches that they have played so far.
Sangakkara has not been able to display his powerful batting skills so far and his team is also looking forward to gain foothold in winning some matches.
The two teams are praying that the weather gods do not spoil it with rain, as the city has been experiencing showers for the past few days. (ANI)
