Graeme Smith's led South African team will arrive in Mumbai on March 18 for the three Test matches played on their tour of India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Wednesday.
The Proteas will commence the Indian tour with a three-day lone practice match against India A at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai from March 20-22, followed by three back-to-back Tests in Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kanpur.
It will be an uphill task for the South Africans as they will be playing three Test matches in three weeks after their arrival from Bangladesh, where they will play two Tests and three One-day internationals (ODI) prior to their tour of India.
South Africa's will be visiting India after a gap of three years, as their last toured India in November 2004 when they lost 0-1 to hosts in a two match Test series. But this time they will surely come hard against India after registering an inspiring home victory over West Indies, while the prior tour to India’s eastern neighbour’s Bangladesh will also work as a stimulant in their quest to beat India at their own backyard.
