New Delhi, Apr 16 (ANI): The ten-member Joint Government-Civil Society Committee for drafting the anti-graft Lokpal Bill will hold its first meeting here today.
The meeting will begin at 11.30 a.m.
The notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice has said that the committee to prepare the draft of the Bill would have five ministers from the government and five nominees of social activist Anna Hazare, including himself.
The five Ministers are Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Home Minister P. Chidamabaram, M. Veerappa Moily (Convenor), HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and Water Resources Minister Salman Khurshid.
The civil society will be represented by Hazare, former Supreme Court judge N Santosh Hegde, Shanti Bhushan (Co-Chairperson), Prashant Bhushan and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal.
The notification said the Joint Drafting Committee would commence work forthwith evolving its own procedure to prepare the proposed legislation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has said that the bill will be introduced in the monsoon session of the Parliament in July. (ANI)
