Ahmedabad, Oct 2 (IANS) The Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited, also known as Banas Dairy, has registered the highest milk production in Gujarat's cooperative dairy sector, its top official said Thursday.
Banas Dairy chairman Parthi Bhatol told a meeting of the chairmen and secretaries of all 1,337 milk-producing societies of Banaskantha district: 'Between Sep 1 and Sep 20, daily milk production of Banas Dairy went up to 1.91 million litres per day (LLD), which was 700,000 litres more than the corresponding period last year and more than any of the other cooperative dairies in the state. As such, we are the No 1 in milk production in Gujarat.'
Bhatol, also chairman of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), said: 'The third unit of Banas Dairy, coming up at a cost of Rs.120 crore (Rs.1.20 billion), will produce additional 10 lakh (one million) litres of milk a day.'
