Palamu, Mar 26 (ANI): In a fierce gun battle, Maoists gun down a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personal in Jharkhand's Palamu district.
The CRPF personnel with the state police officials had gone to recover the bodies of two Abhijeet Group employees Jeetendra Singh and Mukesh Yadav who were abducted on March 17 by the Maoists.
Laxman Prasad, Deputy Inspector General of Palamu district said a fierce gun battle took place between the Maoists and the CRPF when the team was returning with the bodies of the abducted members.
"Police were taking out the dead bodies when the Maoists opened fire on the police forces. Many rounds of bullets were fired from both the sides for a longer period. Unfortunately one of our CRPF officer died in the encounter and one of them has been injured," said Prasad.
On March 17, Jeetendra Singh, an engineer, and Mukesh Yadav, a site in charge, were abducted from near the company gate as they were returning home after work.
In another incident in Bihar's Gaya district, Bindeshwari Yadav alias Bindi Yadav, a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal party has been arrested and around 4000 rounds of ammunition and cash has been seized from his possession.
A team of police officers intercepted the vehicle of Yadav and during the search, ammunition for sophisticated weapons like SLRs and AK-47 were seized which were to be supplied to the Maoists to be used during the village council elections to be held in the state. (ANI)
