Kuala Lumpur, Mar.12 (ANI): The head of Malaysia's meteorological department has said the country is unlikely to experience severe chain effects from the tsunami.
Che Gayah Ismail said that said rough seas and high water level warning for the coast of Sabah and Labuan, following the tsunami warning alert for the Philippines and Indonesia, was lifted last night.
He added that Malaysia is unlikely to experience effects from tsunami as the country is protected by a landmass in the Philippines.
According to The Star, Malaysians have been asked not to panic in the wake of the natural calamity.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre had issued a tsunami warning for over 50 countries and territories that includes Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, Russia and almost the entire Pacific basin following the quake. (ANI)
