London, Mar 2 (ANI): Kidnap victim Jaycee Dugard's kidnappers have confessed to abducting her and imprisoning her for 18 years.
Dugard was just 11 when she went missing in California in 1991, and according to defence lawyer Stephen Tapson, Nancy and Phillip Garrido have admitted to kidnapping her, the Daily Express reported.
Tapson, who represents Nancy Garrido, 55, said he was present when she and her husband confessed to detectives.
Dugard was freed 18 months ago, along with her two teenage daughters, who were allegedly fathered by Phillip Garrido.
Speaking after a court hearing in California, Tapson said prosecutors proposed a 440-year sentence for Phillip Garrido, 58, and 241 years for Nancy, and that no plea deal had been agreed.
The 18 counts against them include kidnapping for sexual purposes, rape, lewd acts on a child, false imprisonment and production of child pornography with the victim.apson said the Garridos had spoken to detectives hoping to win a deal that would allow Nancy one day to walk out of prison.
Lawyers said the couple would consider a settlement that would spare Dugard and the children from giving evidence. (ANI)
