Bijnor, Feb 19 (ANI): In yet another case of honour killing, the family members of an upper-caste girl in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor District killed a boy of a Dalit family, with whom she was in a relationship.
The body of the boy named Atul Kumar was discovered in a field in Bijnor on Thursday.
Atul's father Mahendra Singh alleged that his son was murdered by Madan Singh, the father of the girl, Jyoti.
Kumar's family has registered a police complaint against Jyoti's father, two brothers and her uncle.
"My son was friendly with Madan Singh's daughter. One day in the morning, we thought that our son is going to the fields but after some time, people in the village started shouting that there is a body in the fields," said Atul's father Mahendra Singh
"So, we went there and saw that that it was my son's body. There were marks on my son's neck as if somebody had smothered him, and he had marks on his back also. Madan Singh has killed my son," he added.
Meanwhile, Bijnor Superintendent of Police Mahesh Kumar said the case has been registered and the accused would be arrested soon.
"They (family members of Atul) are saying that their son was in a relationship with Madan Singh's daughter and wanted to marry her. As the family members of the girl did not accept their relation, they called the boy and killed him. A case of murder has been registered in the police station and the people involved will be arrested soon," said Kumar.
All the four accused are absconding. (ANI)
