Ayodhya litigant Ansari to move Supreme Court

Lucknow , Sun, 13 Feb 2011 ANI

Lucknow, Feb 13 (ANI): The oldest litigant in the Ayodhya title suit, Mohammad Hashim Ansari, has finally decided to move the Supreme Court against the verdict of the Allahabad High Court in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri-Masjid title case.

"I never wanted the nation to face any loss because of the Babri Masjid verdict. But the parties in the opposition want to divide the country and that I will not tolerate," said Ansari, who was making all efforts for an out of court settlement between the various stakeholders in the case.

The Sunni Waqf Board, one of the main litigants, had earlier on December 14 last year expressing dissatisfaction filed a special leave petition in the apex court for setting aside the Allahabad High Court verdict.

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court had on September 30 last year ruled by majority that the disputed land in Ayodhya be divided into three parts.

The High Court bench decided to divide the disputed 2.7 acres of land into three parts, with each of the three parties to the suit getting a part of it.

The ownership of the disputed land has been divided as follows: (1) Ram Lalla, the birthplace of Lord Ram, given to Lord Ram (2) Sita Rasoi and Ram Chabootra to Nirmohi Akhara and (3) the remaining part to be given to the Sunni Waqf Board. (ANI)
