Lucknow, Feb 4 (ANI): Slamming the opposition parties for disrupting the proceedings on the opening day of the budget session in Uttar Pradesh assembly, Chief Minister Mayawati said such an act was a violation of parliamentary tradition.
Talking to reporters here, Mayawati said: "As the leader of the House and Chief Minister I condemn the behaviour of the opposition parties especially Samajwadi Party."
She said by supporting legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who is wanted in several criminal cases, the Samajwadi Party has become "a goon's party".
"It is clear that as the criminal records of Raja Bhaiya are not hidden, it has become clear that Samajwadi Party has become Raja Bhaiya's, a goon's party. It was there before, but today it has become apparent, it is a party of goons, scoundrels and mafias," Mayawati added.
On the opposition demands to dismiss the government on the issue of atrocities against women, she said the government facts prove that, as compared to other states, fewer cases of women harassment took place in Uttar Pradesh.
"Kareli incident in Allahabad, which happened during Samajwadi Party regime, is an example of atrocities against women," she said.
Unruly scenes were witnessed in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on the first day of the budget session today.
As soon as the proceeding of the House started, the Opposition members raised slogans and displayed placards to protest against price rise. They also demanded release of Raja Bhaiyya.
Following din in the House, Governor B L Joshi read only first and last line of his address. (ANI)
