Lucknow, Sep 30 (IANS) An Uttar Pradesh court Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to alleged gangster Babloo Srivastava and his two aides for the murder of a customs officer 15 years ago..
L.D. Arora, an assistant customs collector, was shot dead in Allahabad in 1993.
The Kanpur district court found Babloo and two of his aides, Manjit Singh alias Mange Sardar and Kamal Kishore Saini guilty of having conspired to kill Arora, a court official said.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Babloo was once considered to be close to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, said the official.
Babloo developed enmity with Arora after the customs officer seized a consignment of arms and ammunition belonging to Dawood, he added. At that time Arora was posted at the Mumbai airport.
