Lucknow, Feb 4 (ANI): Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav has cautioned Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati for her alleged pick and choose approach in targeting his party supporters and sending them to jail.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Mulayam Singh warned that Mayawati herself may have to face similar situation in the days to come.
"Thorough probe would be conducted into the acts of Mayawati government if his party is re-elected to power in the state," he added.
He sought the unconditional release of legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, who has been behind the bars, which according to him was at the behest of Mayawati.
"Have you ever heard Raja Bhaiya using foul language against anybody? I want to gently warn the Chief Minister that she might face similar consequences. Time is not always on one's side. If the Government of the Samajwadi Party is formed there will investigation. No criminal will be spared and I think Chief Minister is guilty. That is why it is a humble request that she should free him immediately without any condition," he said.
Yadav, who visited Raja Bhaiyya in Bareilly jail on Wednesday, said that as many as eleven Samajwadi Party supporters have been put behind bars in the recent past including the party's chief whip in Lok Sabha Shailendra Kumar.
He also narrated in detail how these supporters are being harassed and tortured in custody for no valid reasons.
"Why is it that only Samajwadi Party leaders and supporters land in jail. Not a single individual from BJP, CPI or any other party for that matter, is behind bars. This smacks of political discrimination," Yadav said. (ANI)
