Yet another suicide blast kills 26, injures many in Lahore

In yet another suicide blast at least 26 people including 22 policemen have been reportedly killed and over sixty people got injured on Thursday (Jan 10) at around 11:45 IST in the Pakistan city of Lahore .

The blast took place near the Lahore High Court just before a protest march scheduled to be held by the lawyers. Security personnel present at the spot were the most to be injured.

Police confirmed it as a suicide blast as body of a person was found lying on the spot. The powerful explosion had also damaged several vehicles parked at the place. At the very time there was a meeting of lawyers was taking place inside the court.

Soon after the blast security has been tighten in the area and also all nearby cities has been put under red alert. Investigation has been on its way for detailed analysis that can explain the kind of explosive objects was used by the suicide bomber.

PAK IN TURMOIL

Just barely two weeks after the assassination of former premier and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chief Benazir Bhutto, the blast only signals the security standing of the nation. This is the fourth major suicide bombings in the last two months generating fears over Pakistan 's stability and putting a question mark on its track to democracy as President Pervez Musharraf had postponed the Parliamentary election until February 18.

Non 24, 2007 – A twin suicide car bombing left 35 dead in Rawalpindi .

Oct 25, 2007 - A suicide attack killed 24 people including police men while a bomber targeted a police van in the NWF provinces.
