Uploading High Definition Videos has now become a possibility with the addition of the long missing feature in the Android version of its App. Although the social networking giant has made no official announcement regarding the update, the Android Police managed to detect it on the App Settings menu. The change is not completely rolled out reportedly and that may be the reason behind the silence.
The feature is already present in iOS version of Facebook app since around two years and the users of Android had to wait for a relatively long time, as Facebook tested the viability of this function along with many other in the line of being upgraded.
In order to use the function of uploading HD videos, users have to toggle to hit on the Settings menu in the App and then move to the option “Upload Videos in HD”. It should be noted that while some users can find this as a part of general update, others may only avail it on the beta channel of the App.
From what has been seen in the last few weeks, Facebook has been intending to make several changes in its Android App and most of this is being rolled out on trial basis. Various news related to these additions come out frequently, giving the users a reason to guess about what’s next in the pipeline.
Apart from this feature, Facebook Beta testers, also reported to have found a toggle, clicking on which enabled them to run video playback even outside the App. The function allows videos to play in floating widgets even while users browse the app or go through the news feed. The testers had to select “Draw over other Apps” Option in order to activate the floating video widgets.
Next feature which has been brought for both the Android regular and Beta App users is the offline saving of videos. Earlier saving the video on app referred to bookmarking of the links of videos to be watched later. Now, just like the YouTube and Netflix, the videos can be downloaded and saved for being seen later without any internet connection. The “Saved” tab of the app when clicked will show the saved offline videos.
The Android Police also reported the ongoing testing of the option of selecting specific video quality on Android apps. However the same is not confirmed yet.
Earlier to this, there was an update to change the way notifications could be visited. Two arrows were added on the top to visit the sequenced notifications, instead of going back to the notifications tab and choosing the other one. This option was not available for regular Android users though.
Moving on from android, Facebook is apparently also testing a chat-like comments interface for its desktop version. The interface would supposedly be a pop-up, where users can post replies or comment while using the other functions of the social network.
