4 June 2015, New Delhi: With the team all set to leave for the Fintro FIH Hockey World League Semi-Finals, the Indian Women team Chief Coach, Mathias Ahrens was seen speaking on the upcoming tournament and how is the team gearing up for the same.
Speaking on the preparation, Chief Coach Mathias Ahrens said “We are in the final phase of preparation for the World League Semi-Finals and it is quiet a mixed feeling at the moment. “We are focusing on fine tuning penalty corners, long corners and set pieces. The team is spending more time on speed which will help work on covering the distance. The team today is strong on their counter attacks and our attack in the D is improving drastically. We are now focusing on things to come together and if we deliver then we are on track.”
Speaking on the preparations, Captain Ritu Rani said, “The team looks very confident under the new coach as we are learning and adapting to newer skills which will help us perform better in the opponent's D. We are positive to deliver the desired results.”
The FIH Hockey World League Semi-Final will be played from 20 June to 04 July 2015 and ten teams will be seen fighting it out for the title. India will play their first match against Belgium at 07.30 PM IST on 20 June 2015. The matches will be Telecast LIVE on Star Sports.
