New Delhi, 29 June 2015: Entering the next phase of the tournament, the upbeat Indian Women Hockey team is all set to take on The Netherlands in the quarter-final match of the FINTRO Hockey World League 2015 (Women) in Antwerp, Belgium tomorrow.
India and The Netherlands all set for the Quarter-Final clash in the FINTRO Hockey World League 2015 (Women).
The two teams have not clashed with each other lately but the Indian Women Hockey Team is looking forward to carve their plan and emerge victorious against the FIH Ranked # 1 Netherlands this time around.
While, the Dutch team is placed on the top of Pool A and had won all their league matches in the tournament, the Indian eves lost three matches against Belgium, New Zealand and Australia in Pool B and registered only one win against Poland. They are determined to make a comeback in the next phase of the tournament and will try out-of-the-box strategies to get a positive result.
This match between the two will be the most crucial match as both India and Netherlands will strive to claim victory to enter the semi- finals of the tournament. With the team line-up and field plan in place, both the sides are ready to lock horns against each other in the impending match tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of the match against the Netherlands, India Captain Ritu Rani said, “Playing against the World No.1 Netherlands will surely be a challenge and we are looking forward to give our best shot. We are just keeping the rankings aside and working on various aspects of the game. We need to improve on our penalty corner conversion rate in order to give them a tough time. Also, we will try not to give away penalty corners easily as we did in the last matches. The girls are excited and ready to take on Netherlands tomorrow.”
Speaking ahead on the team's structure ahead of their next clash, Chief Coach Mathias Ahrens said, “The team has the potential and girls are getting better after the league stage. We need to focus on our ball possession and penalty corner conversion rate as the Netherlands is a tough team and it is not easy to tackle them. The girls are willing and able to help each other out at any given point during the game and work as a unit and this is what makes us a better team than others. Hopefully we will be able to demonstrate a skilful game and play good hockey tomorrow."
India Women Team will face the Netherlands in their Quarter-Final match of the FINTRO Hockey World League Semi-Final 2015 at 21:30 IST on the 30th June 2015. The matches will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports.
