Hockey Bhopal defeats Hockey Himachal Pradesh 4-1

- Hockey Bhopal defeats Hockey Himachal Pradesh 4-1
-The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd pulls down Hockey Madhya Pradesh 3-0
-Hockey Mizoram attains an excellent win over Vidarbha Hockey Association 16-0

Ranchi, 20 May 2015: The ongoing 5th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) Div B witnessed another set of nerve wrecking matches on the ground of Ranchi, Jharkhand today. The day started with a win for Hockey Bhopal who defeated Hockey Himachal Pradesh with a good margin of 4-1. The second clash between The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd and Hockey Madhya Pradesh was fruitful for the former who overpowered the opponents by 3-0 score. In another match, Hockey Mizoram displayed their brilliant hockey skills and blanked Vidarbha Hockey Association by 16-0.

The first match of the day was an interesting session for Hockey Bhopal who bagged a victory against Hockey Himachal Pradesh by 4-1. The initial few minutes witnessed continuous efforts from both the teams to take the early lead. It was Hockey Bhopal who opened their account with a field goal coming from the stick of Kavita Ragdi in the 21st minute. Hockey Bhopal added another field goal to their account in the 31stminute, when Aarti Singh entered the opponent's defence with a smart stick work. By now Hockey Himachal Pradesh was in action to retaliate for this and managed to do so in the first half itself when Kajal from the team struck a field goal bringing in hope for the team. The first half ended in favour of Hockey Bhopal who by then were leading with 2-1. The second half started on a stressful note with the leading team aiming to maintain the consistency and the other team trying to match the pace of the opponents. With two more field goals in the 53rd and 69th minute by Priyanka Yadav and Kanchan Batham respectively, Hockey Bhopal declared a triumph over Hockey Himachal Pradesh with a score 4-1.

This was followed by a battle between The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd and Hockey Madhya Pradesh where the former registered an excellent win against the opponents with 3-0. Diksha Bhosale from The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd helped the team to start the proceedings with two back to back field goals in the 8th and 9th minute of the game. Hockey Madhya Pradesh made good attempts to win their first goal, however it was The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd who dominated the first half with a lead 2-0. The second half of the game witnessed a tough clash between both the teams to enter the opponent's defence. However, with a penalty corner in the 60th minute converted by Althea D'Almeida, The Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd announced their win against the opponents with 3-0.

The third clash between Hockey Mizoram and Vidarbha Hockey Association was a splendid watch as Hockey Mizoram with their top notch performance blanked the opponents with 16-0. Lalrindiki, the captain of Hockey Mizoram, enabled to team to put forward a spectacular performance in the first half itself with a field goal in the early 2nd minute, a penalty corner conversion in the very next minute and four more field goals in the 4th, 10th, 15th and 18th minute. So far leading with a dominating score 6-0, Hockey Mizoram added another field goal to their account in the 19th minute coming from the stick of R Lalsangzwali. Realising the critical situation for them, Vidarbha Hockey Association were seen putting in their best efforts to rise in the game. However, it was again Hockey Mizoram who scored two more field goals in the 21st and 25th minute by F Lalawmpwii and Lalrindiki respectively ending the first half with high spirits and a lead of 9-0. The second half of the game again saw Hockey Mizoram in full swing earning another field goal in the 44th minute, which was once again scored by R Lalsangzwali. Determined to win, Hockey Mizoram earned another penalty corner which was converted by F Lalawmpwii in the 53rd minute. Five more field goals resulted from the praise worthy team work of Hockey Mizoram allowing them to win with a massive score 16-0 against Vidarbha Hockey Association.

The Pool A match between Assam Hockey and Hockey Jammu & Kashmir will be held today at 6:30 pm.
