Not loosing possession in the semi-circle will be the key during the Hawke's Bay Cup: Rani
New Delhi, 9 April 2015: With the Hawke's Bay Cup all set to kick-start on the 11th April 2015 in New Zealand, eight teams are gearing up for their opening clash as a win will boost morale for the winning team. The Indian Women Hockey team with their recent performance in the Women's Hockey World League Round 2 is on a high and would aim to continue their form in the all important upcoming tournament.
India will meet China on the opening day which will be followed by Australia taking on USA, Argentina clashing against Korea and the hosts taking on Japan. India had last met China during the Asian Games 2014 where they had a close match against the opponents before going down 1-2.
Speaking on the challenge ahead, Forward player Rani said “While the aim is to give a good performance, the same will greatly depend on not loosing possession of the ball in the semi-circle. Those few seconds will be the time when we have to ensure to not allow pressure take the better of us. We have to be quick and not waste any time in our passes, in trying to get a penalty corner in our favour or even giving a shot at the goal. Each milli-second there will count.”
The Hawke’s Bay will be played from 11 April - 19 April 2015 and eight teams will be seen fighting it out for the title. India will play their first match against China at 7.00 AM IST on 11 April 2015. The matches will be LIVE Streamed on www.hockeyfestival.nz.
