Teams continued their outstanding play at the 5th edition of the Hockey India Junior Men National Hockey Championship 2015 (Div B)

Mysore (Karnataka), 8 April 2015: The 5th edition of the Hockey India Junior Men National Hockey Championship 2015 being played at Mysore, Karnataka saw another day of outstanding matches as teams played to beat their opponents and go a step ahead in the Championship. Hockey Jammu & Kashmir taking on Hockey Andhra Pradesh won the match 5-2 to register a win in their names. In the match between Hockey Puducherry and Tripura Hockey it was the former who controlled the match throughout as they scored 25 goals to thump the latter. In the last match for the day between hockey Bihar and Hockey Rajasthan it was Hockey Bihar who registered a convincing 8-1 win.

Hockey Jammu & Kashmir taking on Hockey Andhra Pradesh won the match 5-2 to register a win in their names. The first half started with Hockey Jammu & Kashmir immediately registering a goal in their name in the 3rd minute as Manik Sharma smartly outwitted the goalkeeper to put the ball in the nets. This proved to be the sole goal scored in the first half as the rest of the session both teams tried to cash in on the chances but were unsuccessful. Leading the game by 1-0, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir just three minutes into the second half scored their second goal and doubling their lead on Hockey Andhra Pradesh. Looking at making a comeback in the match Hockey Andhra Pardesh scored two back to goals in the 47th and 56th minute as Sai Kiran Bonala and Naresh Talari made no mistake in scoring on the opportunities. With scores tied at 2-2 both teams were in a position to go for the kill and take the game in their favour. Undeterred by the two back to back goals by Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Jammu & Kashmir slammed in three goals within eight minutes coming in the 59th, 64th and 66th minute and winning the match convincingly.

In the match between Hockey Puducherry and Tripura Hockey it was the former who controlled the match throughout as they scored 25 goals to thump the latter. The star player for the match was V. Veera Thamizan as he went berserk and singlehandedly scored 11 field goals leaving everyone awestruck with his performance and skills. This was followed by Captain for the team T. Arun Kumar who converted 6 field goals and was supported by S Muthu Krishnan and P Mahendran with their 4 and 3 goals respectively. The match started with V. Veera Thamizan opening the scorecard in the 1st minute through a beautiful field goal as he tore past the defence to score. The match ended with him scoring three back to back goals in a span of seven minutes leaving the opponents completely dented. By the end of first half Hockey Puducheery ensured that Tripura Hockey was down and out as they scored 11 goals while the latter was able to just score once in the 18th minute with half time scores at 11-1.. The second half was the same story as Hockey Puducherry continued their onslaught on the opponents and added back to back goals and taking the final score to 25-2. Hockey Tripura again added just one goal in the second session in the 54th minute

In the last match for the day between hockey Bihar and Hockey Rajasthan it was Hockey Bihar who registered a convincing 8-1 win. Hockey Bihar completely took charge in the first half and not allowing the opponents to have easy access to their D and scoring goals. Hockey Bihar scored in the 8th minute as Anwarullah Shah flicked the ball into the nets leaving no chance for the goalkeeper to react. 1-0 on the scoreboard, Hockey Bihar doubled the lead in the 23rd minute coming from the stick of Sameer Minz. Before the end of the first session Hockey Bihar added two more to their goal tally and taking the score to 4-0 in their favour. In the second half Hockey Rajasthan finally struck in the 55th minute but it proved to be their sole goal of the match as thereafter Hockey Bihar again took things in their hand as they slammed another four goals coming in the 57th, 58th, 64th and 68th minute and winning the match comfortably.
