Hockey Patiala pocketed its first win by defeating Hockey Uttarakhand 6-1

Teams continued their winning streak on the second day of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) - Division B, Saifai, Uttar Pradesh 

- Chhattisgarh Hockey blanked Hockey Gujarat 5-0
- Hockey Patiala overcame Hockey Uttarakhand 6-1
- Hockey Bihar thrashed Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 9-0
- Manipur Hockey outwitted Vidarbha Hockey Association 3-2

Saifai (Uttar Pradesh), 21 April 2015: With an aim to make their position stronger in the championship with each passing day, the teams marked their respective wins on the second day of the 5th Senior National Hockey Championship 2015 (Women) - Division B today.

The day started with much enthusiasm and excitement where Chhattisgarh Hockey blanked Hockey Gujarat 5-0 in the first match and registered its second consecutive win. Hockey Patiala pocketed its first win by defeating Hockey Uttarakhand 6-1. The third match of the day witnessed Hockey Bihar thrashing Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 9-0. And the day ended on a winning note as Manipur Hockey registered its first win by defeating Vidarbha Hockey Association 3-2.

The first match of the day turned out to be an easy and delightful battle for Chhattisgarh Hockey who blanked the opponents Hockey Gujarat with a score 5-0. Initially both the teams made impressive efforts to open their account of goals; however these attempts turned successful for Chhattisgarh Hockey who scored their first field goal in the 16th minute with the support of Hemlata Yadav. Hockey Gujarat tried their best to retaliate striving continuously to breach the opponent's defense, but it was Renuka Rajput who converted a penalty corner in the 28th minute to score another goal for Chhattisgarh Hockey which allowed the team to lead with 2-0 by the end of the first half. Having been settled in a comfort zone, Chhattisgarh Hockey continued to display excellent hockey skills and enjoyed the session on the field in the second half of the game. Giving no opportunity to breakthrough to the opponents, very soon Chhattisgarh hockey added another goal to their account in the 44th minute which again came from Hemlata Yadav who brilliantly contributed towards the team's victory. It was then Pooja Yadav from the same team who bagged two consecutive goals, a penalty corner in the 55th minute and a field goal and the 59th minute announcing the outstanding win for Chhattisgarh Hockey with a leading score 5-0.

The second match for the day between Hockey Patiala and Hockey Uttarakhand was a one sided affair as the former went on to win it 6-1. It was Beant Kaur's strong performance and four individual goals which helped her team register and easy win over Hockey Uttarakhand. The first half belonged to Hockey Patiala as Beant Kaur scored a brace in the 11th and 14th minute followed by Sonali Walia scoring in the 19th minute and taking the half time scores to 3-0 in their favour. Hockey Uttarakhand opened their scorecard in the 36th minute as Monika Rawat capitalized the penalty corner. Post the early goal of first half, Hockey Patiala again dominated the rest of the session as they added three more goals and taking an easy win of 6-1 over Hockey Uttarakhand.

In the Pool A match of the day, Hockey Bihar thrashed Hockey Jammu and Kashmir by a huge margin of 9-0 in the one-sided clash. Bihar dominated through-out the match and didn't allow their opponents to settle down. The match started with skipper Anita Sawasi's spectacular brace in the 3rd and 13th minute of the match as she converted two back-to-back penalty corners with perfection and set the momentum for her team. With the first two inspiring success from the Captain, Bihar team started playing with more aggression and scored goals at regular intervals. In the 20th minute, Anila Sosan Beck scored the third goal after she dribbled past opponent's defenders and sent the ball into the goal-box. In the 27th minute, Shilwanti Minjur sneaked into the opponent's half and hit the ball hard into the nets to score the fourth goal. Riding on four goals, Anila Sosan and Dolly Kumari scored to brilliant goals in 40th and 44th minutes of the match respectively and extended the lead by 6-0. In the 49th minute, Shilawanti entered the opponent's half with full speed and sent the ball in the goal without giving any moment to react to the opponents. With this goal, Shilwanti scored his second goal and Bihar's seventh goal. In the next minute (50th minute), her team-mate Priti Singh managed to out-fox opponent's defenders and score the eighth goal of the match. Leading by 8-0, Shilawanti stroke back again and hit her hat-trick goal in the 58th minute of the match. Displaying the great team-work, Hockey Bihar registered a thumping 9-0 victory over Hockey Jammu & Kashmir.

Ending the day on a spirited note, Manipur Hockey drubbed Vidarbha Hockey Association with a narrow margin of 3-2. The match started very competitively as both the teams showed resilience and aggression in the initial moments. However, it was Manipur Hockey who took the initial lead as Bidyarani Devi T surged ahead and struck the first goal of the match in the early seven minutes of the game. Taking the lead to 2-0, Nirmala Devi K successfully converted a penalty corner and dexterously placed the ball into the nets in the 29th minute. Just when the first half of the game was going to be barren for Vidarbha Hockey Association, Sangeeta Meshram showcased brilliant stick work as she went ahead and struck the first goal for her team in the 33rd minute. Before going into the break, the score board read 2-1 in support of Manipur Hockey. In the second half, Manipur Hockey continued to be dominating among the two sides and scored its third goal in the 51st minute through a penalty corner conversion by Nirmala Devi K. Intending to reduce the margin, Vidarbha Hockey Association scored the second goal from the stick of Esther Kujur in the 55th minute but this did not affect the final result as Manipur Hockey comfortably won the match against Vidarbha Hockey Association 3-2.
