The Indian Women Hockey team hopes to strike a win in tomorrow's classification clash against USA at the Hawke's Bay Cup 2015
New Delhi, 17 April 2015: As the Hawke's Bay Cup 2015 almost closes to a finish, the Indian Women Hockey team will look at a win during their classification match against USA tomorrow. The team playing for a better position in the tournament will look at beating the opponents and play for the 5th / 6th position on 19th April 2015.
In the previous clash during this tournament, India was defeated by USA with 4-2, which helped the opponents to open their victory account. India have to their favour of an outstanding performance against Australia where they did not allow them to score and drew the match. The team started their clash against New Zealand on a high as they successfully opened the scoring account leaving the hosts stunned and trailing. India will be looking at all departments firing tomorrow as a win will allow them to play for the 5th / 6th position.
Speaking on the preparations of the team, Indian Captain Ritu Rani said, “We are trying to figure out the loopholes and get back in the form for the upcoming match. It is very important to win against USA tomorrow to bring back the team's confidence for the future tournaments. We have been evaluating our previous matches and we will ensure a much better performance tomorrow”.
Taking about the Semi Final battle, Roelant Oltmans, Director High Performance, Hockey India said, “The team has been trying to give their best so far, however it did not turn out well. But the hope to do better in the upcoming matches is still there and the players in our team are working to keep end it on a high. We hope to perform like a strong team tomorrow and emerge as winners.
India will play USA tomorrow (18th April 2015) at 7:45 AM. The matches will be LIVE Streamed on www.hockeyfestival.nz.
