Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy entered the finals of the 4th Hockey India Sub - Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division A ) played at Pune, Maharashtra today.
In the first semi final match, Jharkhand defeated Haryana 4-2 via penalty shoot out. In the first half of the game Jharkhand made a quick entry to the score card with a field goal in the 8th minute which came through Nisha Rani Aind. Soon answering back to the opponents, Harayana's Captain Udita penetrated a field goal in the 29th minute and the game went into half time with a levelled score of 1-1. In the second half of the game, it was Jharkhand's Nisha Rani Aind again, who earned a penalty corner in the 45th minute advancing the lead to 2-1. Trailing by a goal, Jharkhand continued playing a very defensive game until the last minute when, Haryana’s Dimpy did not take long to level the scores and stroked a goal in the 69th minute at 2-
With a score lock of 2-2 on the board, the game moved to the penalty shoot- out, where it was Jharkhand who scored 4 back to back goals, whereas, Haryana had to settle to a total of only 2 goals. The end of the match witnessed a defeat of Haryana 4-2.
In the second semi- final match, Madhya Pradesh enters the finals by defeating Chandigarh Olympic Association with a striking goal margin of 3-0. The first half of the game was not at all fruitful for both the teams as none of the teams scored any goal, closing the first half goalless.
In the second half, it was Madhya Pradesh's Preeti Dubey who took the lead forward and scored a field goal in the 36th minute of the game. Within a span of just two minutes, Neelu Dadiya converted a penalty corner in the 38th minute taking the lead to 2-0. Madhya Pradesh dominated the entire game and restricted the opponent failing to materialize any goals. Adding further to the goals, Sandhana Sengar notched a field goal in the 42nd minute for Madhya Pradesh declaring a comfortable win over Chandigarh Olympic Association.
