Hockey India Sub- Junior Women's National Championship 2014 (Division B) played at Haldwani, Uttarakhand witnessed some eye-catching wins of the respective teams. In a Pool A match, Hockey Bhopal defeated Gujarat 2-0. The winning team did not allow the opponent to score even a single goal which proved to be a very easy victory for Gujarat. Just when the first half of the game was about to go goalless, Rafiya Faroque scored a field goal in the 35th minute taking the lead to 1-0.
Hockey Bhopal went on with the same attitude on the field in the second half restricting the opponent. The game moved to a score of 2-0 just when in the 69th minute of the game Saraswati Khanal pierced in a field goal. While the entire game got sealed for Gujarat, Hockey Bhopal declared its win by 2-0.
In another Pool A match, Himachal Pradesh declared its second win in the tournament against Tripura with a brilliant goal score of 20-0. The match proved to be dreadful for Hockey Tripura as they failed to score a single goal in the entire match. In the first half, the first goal of the match came through the Captain Kanishka Rai in the 4th minute followed by six goals in 16th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 29th and 33rd minute respectively by the other girls.
Without wasting much time in the second half Himachal Pradesh continued attacking and scored a field goal in the 40th minute which came through Shanaj. Soon after this, three consecutive goals came from the Kanishka, Madhu and Nisha in 43rd, 44th and 45th minute respectively. In 49th and 50th minute followed by three consecutive field goals in 52nd, 53rd and 54th minute, the winning team left the opponent blank as it was in its complete form. Tripura put all its efforts but did not get a single chance to bag a goal in its favour whereas, the girls of Himachal Pradesh played a very defensive game and pierced in three back to back goals in 59th, 60th and 61st minute. The last and the winning goal of the match came through Sapna in the 65th minute giving a remarkable win to Himachal Pradesh’s eves.
In a Pool B match, Sports Authority of India played a dazzling game with Mumbai Hockey Association and won the match with a score of 6-0. A match where Mumbai failed to score even a single goal, Sports Authority of India scored six goals out of which two goals were scored by Anjali Gautam in the first half in 16th and 20th minute. In the second half of the game, making full use of the penalty corners, three goals were stroked in 39th, 42nd and 48th minute by Mudita and Lakshmi Devi respectively. Taking the lead forward by 6-0, Rajni scored a field goal in 51st minute declaring a thumping win for Sports Authority of India.
