First it was South African pacers who caused a storm and now it's time for New Zealanders to jolt Indian batsmen who are going through a miserable form (except for Virat Kohli). The losing streak of India outside the country continued as India lost the 2nd ODI of five match ODI series against New Zealand thanks to rain and Indian batting line up.
India lost the 2nd ODI by 15 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method in the rain-affected match. With this fourth straight loss overseas, India was also dethroned from the No.1 ranking in the ODI series, on which now Australia sits comfortably.
Batting first New Zealand made 271 for seven in 42 overs, which was revised to 297 runs. Kane Williamson was the top scorer from the Kiwis side with 77 while Ross Taylor made 57.
Indian couldn't reach the target as the top order and middle order again crumbled except for Kohli and Dhoni. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 78 while captain Dhoni made 56. India had a slow start with Dhawan and Rohit taking time to settle but couldn't score much. Both got out quickly again leaving things for the middle order. Virat and Rahane tried to build a partnership before the latter nicked a ball to the kiwi's wicket keeper.
Dhoni came ahead of Raina and tried to built partnership with Kohli but the run rate was touching 10 and in trying to catch it Kohli got out at 78.
At the end India could only manage 277 for nine in 41.3 overs and were forced off the ground as rain interrupted the game for the third time.
New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee picked up four for 72 while Corey Anderson got three for 67.
India now trails the five-match series against New Zealand by 2-0.
