Delhi's education system is being appreciated across the country:Sheila

The city government is presently concentrating on providing the new infrastructure in its government schools. The Tri Nagar Assembly Segment today witnessed a spree of inauguration of the new school buildings and foundation laying ceremonies of the new school buildings. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit accompanied by Union Communication Minister Kapil Sibal, Education Minister Prof. Kiran Walia, Parliamentary Secretary to CM Anil Bhardwaj and Director (Education) Amit Singla inaugurated the new buildings and laid foundation stones for the buildings to be constructed in the schools. The three new buildings have been constructed as per Green Building Concept, costing 20 cr.

Speaking on this occasion, Dikshit stated that it is now time to construct all age-old school buildings which has become dilapidated with passing of around 50 years. Even the requirement of students and teachers in the schools has increased keeping in view the new modes of learning and importance of practical education.

Dikshit added that three new school buildings which have been dedicated to the people of Delhi were constructed around 50-60 years ago. The new buildings of Government Senior Secondary Girls’ School at Narang Colony, Tri Nagar, Government Sarvodaya Girls’ School, Rampura, Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Rampura have been constructed keeping in view the present requirements in the schools.

Dikshit also stated that Delhi’s education system is being appreciated across the country. The government schools in Delhi are being termed better than the well-established public schools. There has been marked improvement in pass percentage in class-10 and 12 CBSE Board examinations in respect of government schools. The Education Department was the first in the city government to be fully computerized. The government in its schools has been ensuring an all-round development of students, the leaders of tomorrow. The passed-out students have been contributing at various levels to benefit society, Delhi and country.

Sibal stated that the outstanding achievement of the UPA government in education sector is enforcement of Right to Education Act in the country. The government has provided a legal right to be educated. The city government under the leadership of Smt. Dikshit is ensuring free and compulsory education to children.
