Legendary pacer of Pakistan Wasim Akram recently said that his newly-wedded Australian wife Shaniera Thompson has converted to Islam and is learning Urdu.
47-year-old Wasim married 30-year-old Shaniera on August 12 in a simple ceremony, after proposing to her last month.
Wasim said saying that he has started his new life on a happy note. Wasim said, "Shaniera and I would like to thank you all for the love and wishes... We are overwhelmed by the amazing support and look forward to a beautiful future."
Thompson came to Karachi earlier this month before going to see Akram's ailing father in Lahore, where the marriage was solemnized.
According to Akram, she is close to his sons from his previous marriage and they form a good bond.
Akram's first wife Huma died in 2009 after multiple organ failure.
