World famous Leaning Tower of Pisa is continuing its slow and steady return to "straightness", according to reports.
An annual report released by the official surveillance group in charge of monitoring the famously tilting structure has revealed that the tower has recovered approximately 2.5 centimeters (around one inch) of its vertical inclination between the year 2001 and 2013, the Huffington Post reported.
Since 1992, the vertical inclination of the tower has moved from 4.5 meters to 4.1 as a result of various "rescue" interventions of which some were underground- were carried out to stabilize the tower and the researchers were finally able to achieve a 2.5-centimeter reduction in leaning over the last decade.
The steady progress of the tower has allowed it to retain its popular modifier and according to experts it can now be considered safe for the next two to three centuries.
