The much awaited fashion extravaganza of the year 'Delhi Couture Week 2013' kick started in Delhi July 31 at Taj Palace with the showcase of ace designers Anju Modi and Sabyasachi Mukherjee's collections in a grand opening ceremony.
The show started with the showcase of Anju Modi's collections entitled 'Drapaudi', which displayed the modern Draupadi and took the audiences to the period of Mahabharata by creating a great ambience with her collections followed by musical dance in between the show to enhance the relevance of the theme.
Veteran Bollywood actress Tabu was the showstopper for Anju Modi's collection, who represented herself as modern 'Draupadi' with her elegance wearing a red and golden lehenga blended with a full-sleeved velvet blouse.
Later, celebrated designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased his collections inspired by 'Opium' and took the spectators to the era of 1920 with his magnificent collection blended with a great ambience.
Sabyasachi's collection ranged from bandhgalas, short tops, garaaras, flapper jackets, designer coats, to kurtas, lehengas and sarees, which were highly appreciated by the spectators.
Our correspondent talked to a leading model in the show 'Nitin Chauhan', who was a part of Delhi couture Week's opening show and displayed Modi's collection and looked quite happy with the show.
"The collection was quite good and different. Every visitor liked her collection and wanted something from that. As a model, Ii really feels good when you get the chance to display something different and Modi's collection was really special".
Delhi Couture Week 2013 is a five-day event organized of Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) in which country's top-notch designers present their exclusive collections and this year veteran fashion designers like Monisha Jaising, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, Gaurav Gupta, Sabyasachi Mukherjee ,Anju Modi, Ritu Beri and Varun Bahl is taking part in the fashion extravaganza.
