International Tiger Day or Global Tiger Day is celebrated annually on July 29 to create awareness about the conservation of tiger and protect the natural habitat of tigers globally.
The number of tigers has reduced significantly in last 100 years and is still decreasing, which has created a global concern over the protection of the big cat. Moreover, many species of tiger are already extinct and many are on the verge of extinction which has raised a common concern for the environmentalists as well as government over the protection of tiger.
Approximately 97% of all wild tigers have been lost in last100 years and presently, in place of 100,000, only 3,200 tigers live in the wild today. Moreover, the majority of tigers across world are now limited to zoo and with the increasing environmental degradation and illegal poaching, it can be predicted that in near future the tigers can be seen only of the zoos and not in natural condition.
So, in order to save tiger, it is very important to protect environment, frame supportive policies and collaboration and take joint initiative in global level so that the coming generation have not to read about tigers in books as an extinct animal.
