Opener Virender Sehwag, spinners Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha are not selected in the list of 30 players announced for the ICC Champions Trophy, which is to be played in England from June 6 to 23 this year.
Sehwag, who is consistently out of form was last seen playing his ODI against Pakistan in Kolkata on January but was excluded from the five-match ODI series against England last January. The final list of 15 player’s team will be selected by May 6.
In addition to these three, other players who could not impress the selectors are Zaheer Khan and Cheteshwar Pujara.
The national selection committee for the selection of squad for upcoming Champions trophy includes Sandeep Patil (Chairman), Roger Binny, Saba Karim, Rajinder Singh Hans and Vikram Rathour. The selectors have this time favoured the fast bowlers by selecting ten pacers and only five spinners.
The list of short listed players contains Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Gautam Gambhir, Unmukt Chand, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Wriddhiman Saha, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ravindra Jadeja, Jalaj Saxena, Parvez Rasool, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Irfan Pathan, Vinay Kumar, Praveen Kumar, Ishwar Pandey, Sidharth Kaul.
