As expected, IPL once again proved itself the most glamorous form of cricket with a blend of bollywood stars, cricketers, political leaders and great performances. The sixth edition of IPL (IPL6) kicked off in the 'City of Joy', Kolkata in the Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday evening and promised the spectators great entertainment for the next few weeks.
American rapper Pitbull, superstar Shah Rukh Khan, sizzling Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone set the stage on fire after back to back performances leaving the spectators enchanted. The favorites of Bengal, Usha Uthup and Bappi Lehri also rocked the stage by singing the song 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna'.
SRK, who is the brand ambassador and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders dominated the stage with his signature moves and dazzling performance on his own songs "Tume se mil ke dil ka jo haal.." and "Chammak challo". Moreocer, Katrina became the cynosure of the opening ceremony with her scintillating performance on the songs Sheela ki Jawani and Chikni Chameli.
The evening started in traditional Indian style by lightening the ceremonial lamp by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee accompanied by a host of dignitaries including BCCI president N Srinivasan, vice-president Arun Jaitley, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, Cricket Association of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya, Former captain Ravi Shastri and the cricketers.
Though, the T20 league is to start from April 4, but the fever of IPL6 has already ignited among the spectators with the opening ceremony. Though, the real fun is still to come.
