President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday will honour the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and banks with the prestigious national awards at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
The National Awards were constituted by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in 1983 with an objective to felicitate the MSME sector in the areas of entrepreneurship, research and development, product quality and innovation for their outstanding performance in the respective areas.
In addition to that, the award is also presented to the khadi, village industries and coir sector as well as to banks for their remarkable achievements of their credit support to the Small and Micro Enterprises.
This year the list of total number of awardees contains 108 names, which includes 39 from MSME Sector, 45 from khadi and village industries, 18 from coir industries in different categories and 6 banks.
The first, second and third winners of national awards would get a cash prize of Rs. 1, 00,000/-, Rs. 75,000/- and Rs. 50,000/- respectively along with a certificate and a trophy.
Moreover, a special award would be provided to one outstanding woman entrepreneur, one outstanding entrepreneur from SC/ST community and one outstanding entrepreneur from North Eastern Region.
